Picea pungens Brynek
Picea pungens ‘Brynek’ is a distinctive dwarf blue spruce selection believed to have originated in Central Europe, chosen for its irregular habit and expressive branching. Unlike more symmetrical cultivars, ‘Brynek’ develops character early, with a slightly uneven form that appeals to collectors seeking individuality. Blue-gray needles provide strong year-round color and contrast. It grows slowly in full sun and prefers well-drained soil with good air circulation. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it remains modest in size and works well as a focal plant in rock gardens and specialty conifer collections.
