Picea pungens Fat Albert

Picea pungens ‘Fat Albert’ is a classic Colorado blue spruce cultivar selected for its exceptionally dense branching and rich steel-blue foliage. Introduced by Iseli Nursery in Oregon, it quickly became known for holding strong blue color while developing a broad, perfectly proportioned pyramidal form. Unlike many seed-grown blue spruces, this cultivar offers consistency and symmetry without sacrificing vigor. It grows best in full sun with well-drained soil and has a moderate growth rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it matures into a medium to large evergreen and is widely used as a specimen tree and landscape anchor.
