Tsuga canadensis Minuta

Tsuga canadensis ‘Minuta’ is an exceptionally small dwarf eastern hemlock selected for its miniature proportions and very slow growth. This cultivar was valued for capturing the soft, fine texture of native hemlock in a plant that remains truly tiny even with age. Short, dark green needles are densely arranged along compact shoots, creating a tight, cushion-like form. It grows best in partial shade with cool, evenly moist, well-drained soil and protection from hot afternoon sun. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it is ideal for rock gardens, troughs, and collector plantings where scale is critical.
