Tsuga canadensis Jacqueline Verkade

Tsuga canadensis ‘Jacqueline Verkade’ is a refined dwarf eastern hemlock selected for its dense branching and compact, slightly irregular habit. Named for the Verkade family, well known among conifer enthusiasts, this cultivar was chosen for its strong structure and garden reliability. Fine, dark green needles are tightly arranged along short shoots, giving the plant a polished, composed appearance year-round. It grows best in partial shade with cool, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it remains small over many years and is well suited to rock gardens and curated conifer collections.
