Taxodium distichum Cascade Falls
Taxodium distichum ‘Cascade Falls’ is a dramatic weeping selection of bald cypress developed to showcase the species’ graceful foliage in a cascading form. Unlike the upright native tree of southern swamps, this cultivar features pendulous branchlets that drape downward, creating movement and architectural interest. Soft, feathery green needles turn warm copper-orange in fall before dropping cleanly for winter. It grows best in full sun and adapts well to both moist soils and standing water, with a moderate growth rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–9, its ultimate size and shape depend on training, making each specimen a unique focal point.
