Cryptomeria japonica Sekan
Cryptomeria japonica ‘Sekkan’ is a striking golden Japanese cedar traditionally grown for its vivid yellow new growth that matures to bright chartreuse. Unlike many dwarf forms, this cultivar develops a more upright, loosely pyramidal habit that brings both color and vertical interest to the landscape. It performs best in full sun, where coloration is strongest, and prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–9, it grows at a moderate rate and is often used as a focal specimen in gardens seeking year-round color contrast.
