Cryptomeria japonica Black Dragon

Cryptomeria japonica ‘Black Dragon’ is a compact, slow-growing Japanese cedar prized for its dense, dark green foliage and tight, irregular habit. Often considered one of the most refined dwarf cryptomerias, it maintains a sculptural form without pruning and develops excellent texture over time. It performs best in full sun to partial shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil and grows at a restrained pace. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–9, it remains relatively small and is an excellent choice for small gardens, containers, and collector plantings.
