Picea jezoensis D J Dwarf
Picea jezoensis ‘D.J. Dwarf’ is a rare dwarf selection of Yezo spruce, a species native to northern Japan and parts of eastern Russia. The species is valued for its soft, two-toned needles with silvery undersides, and this cultivar preserves that refined texture in a compact form. Selected for its slow growth and dense branching, it develops a rounded to irregular habit that appeals to collectors of uncommon conifers. It prefers full sun to partial shade and cool, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–7, it remains small over many years and offers species-level interest in a garden-friendly size.
