Juniperus chinensis Spartan

Juniperus chinensis ‘Spartan’ is a widely planted upright juniper selected for its fast growth, strong central leader, and clean, columnar form. Introduced in the mid-20th century, it quickly became popular for screens and windbreaks due to its reliability and adaptability. Foliage is dense and deep green, holding color well year-round. It performs best in full sun and well-drained soil and grows faster than most Chinese junipers. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–9, it typically reaches 15–20 feet tall while remaining relatively narrow.
