Tsuga canadensis Golden Splendor
Tsuga canadensis ‘Golden Splendor’ is a luminous color form of eastern hemlock selected for its warm golden foliage, particularly noticeable on new growth and in cooler seasons. Unlike many golden conifers that require full sun, this cultivar holds its color well in partial shade, making it especially valuable for woodland and shaded garden settings. It develops a compact, irregular habit that highlights the contrast between yellow and green needles. It grows best in partial shade with cool, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it grows slowly and is prized for bringing light and color into shaded landscapes.
