Tsuga canadensis Everitts Golden

Tsuga canadensis ‘Everitt’s Golden’ is a luminous golden selection of eastern hemlock chosen for its soft yellow foliage and refined woodland character. Unlike many golden conifers that demand full sun, this cultivar was selected for its ability to hold warm color in partial shade, making it especially valuable in understory and woodland gardens. New growth emerges bright yellow before mellowing to chartreuse, creating gentle seasonal contrast against older green needles. It develops a compact, irregular habit that highlights the foliage rather than height. Best grown in partial shade with cool, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–7, it grows slowly and is prized for bringing light and color to shaded landscapes without losing the softness hemlocks are known for.
