Ligustrum sinense Wimbei

Ligustrum sinense ‘Wimbei’ is a compact, dwarf selection of Chinese Privet valued for its dense, mounding habit and small, rich green foliage. Unlike older privet varieties, ‘Wimbei’ is well-behaved and non-invasive, making it an excellent low-maintenance alternative for tidy hedges and foundation plantings.

Slow to moderate growing, it typically reaches 2–4 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide, forming a naturally rounded shape with minimal pruning. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soils once established.

Hardy in USDA Zones 6–9, ‘Wimbei’ is ideal for low hedges, borders, mass plantings, and evergreen structure in smaller landscape spaces.
