Chamaecyparis obtusa Kamaeni Hiba

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Kamaeni Hiba’ is a traditional Japanese Hinoki cypress selection known for its compact form and finely detailed foliage. This cultivar forms a dense, irregular mound with the classic shell-like sprays characteristic of Hinoki cypress, giving it a timeless, bonsai-like presence. It grows best in full sun to partial shade with evenly moist, well-drained soil and has a slow growth rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it remains manageable in size and is an excellent choice for rock gardens, containers, and collector plantings.
