Chamaecyparis obtusa JR

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘JR’ is a compact dwarf Hinoki cypress valued for its dense structure and richly textured green foliage. This cultivar develops a tight, upright to rounded habit with closely layered sprays, offering strong form without excessive size. It prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil, growing slowly and predictably over time. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it remains relatively small and is well suited for rock gardens, containers, and curated conifer collections.
