Chamaecyparis obtusa Filicoides Compact

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Filicoides Compacta’ is a refined dwarf Hinoki cypress selected for its dense, compact form and finely divided, threadlike foliage. Compared to standard ‘Filicoides’, this cultivar remains tighter and more controlled, forming a neat, rounded to slightly irregular mound. It grows best in full sun to partial shade with evenly moist, well-drained soil and has a slow, manageable growth rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it typically stays small over many years, making it well suited for rock gardens, containers, and small-scale landscapes.
