Pinus mugo Pumilio
Pinus mugo ‘Pumilio’ is a classic, widely grown dwarf mountain pine prized for its broad, spreading habit and rugged adaptability. This slow-growing pine forms a low, mounded to irregular shape with medium-length dark green needles, giving it a natural, informal character. Mature plants typically reach 4–6 feet tall and 6–10 feet wide. ‘Pumilio’ performs best in full sun with well-drained soil and is exceptionally tolerant of cold, wind, heat, and urban conditions once established. Its toughness, versatility, and landscape reliability make it a popular choice for slopes, mass plantings, and large rock gardens.
