Chamaecyparis pisifera Monstrosa

Chamaecyparis pisifera ‘Monstrosa’ is an unusual Sawara cypress selected for its irregular, contorted branching and coarse, sculptural texture. The unpredictable growth habit gives each plant a unique, almost architectural presence that stands apart from more refined plume forms. It grows best in full sun to partial shade with evenly moist, well-drained soil and a slow to moderate growth rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 4–8, it matures as a medium-sized evergreen and is best showcased as a specimen or collector plant.
