Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Pygmea Aurescens’

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Pygmaea Aurescens’ is a golden miniature Hinoki cypress selected for its bright yellow to chartreuse foliage and compact, bun-like habit. This cultivar offers the same extremely slow growth and tight form as ‘Pygmaea’, with added color that brings warmth and contrast to conifer plantings. It grows best in full sun to partial shade, where brighter light enhances its golden tones, and prefers evenly moist, well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it remains very small over time and is well suited for rock gardens, containers, and color-focused collections.
