Chamaecyparis obtusa Elmwood Gold

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Elmwood Gold’ is a striking golden Hinoki cypress known for its bright yellow new growth that deepens to gold with age. This cultivar forms a compact, upright to broadly pyramidal shape with the refined, shell-like foliage typical of Hinoki cypress. It performs best in full sun to partial shade, where color is strongest, and grows at a slow to moderate rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it develops into a small tree over time and adds luminous color to conifer collections and focal plantings.
