Chamaecyparis obtusa Nana Aurea

Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Nana Aurea’ is a golden dwarf Hinoki cypress selected for its compact habit and bright yellow new growth that softens to warm gold with age. This cultivar forms a low, irregular mound with the classic shell-like sprays characteristic of Hinoki cypress. It performs best in full sun to partial shade, with brighter light enhancing its golden coloration, and grows at a very slow rate. Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, it remains small and manageable, making it ideal for rock gardens, containers, and color-focused conifer groupings.
